Jigoro Kano

"Consider fully, act decisively"

Our junior program for is for boys and girls, 7 years of age and older and all practices are co-ed.  Practices are held Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 6:00 – 7:00 pm.  The lead instructor for the junior practices is Sean Kidner, 1st degree, assisted by senior class members who drop in to assist when available.

To register, contact J. Huntley at 374-9945.

Our junior program is predominantly for the recreational player, but tournament participation is encouraged.  Our juniors have consistently returned from competitions with their fair share of awards, and their enthusiasm for practicing enhanced.

Promotional gradings are held on a regular basis, based on the judoka’s learning of the requirements.  Parents are encouraged to watch all practice sessions and grading exams.

ABERDEEN JUDO MONTHLY MINI-SHIAI

Our monthly mini-shiai are proving to be popular with the junior members of Aberdeen Judo. Held the 3rd Thursday of each month, matches are conducted in a variety of formats; standard randori type, back-to-back sitting down start and SUMO style. Each junior receives a 'Certificate of Participation' specifically made for the shiai. On-mat officiating is handled by Huntley sensei, assisted by any of the senior members that want to try their hand at officiating; scorekeeping & timekeeping functions are handled by our parents group.
